Classroom Calendar: A Holiday everyday: june Edition

June: End of the Year Ideas & Themes

Being the last month of school – now more than ever I use a “holiday everyday” . When assessments and summative report cards are complete, the Curriculum outcomes are all covered, and the sun is shining, prep and planning is much harder. Having a theme to plan around is a non-negotiable to get us through the last few weeks.

I recently gave my class calendar a makeover – and it has made a HUGE difference in my class in terms of my planning, cutting down the time needed to prep the day/week, and it gave our calendar more purpose. Under each day, I’ve added a clipart related to the “holiday/special day”. If you use a calendar pocket chart, these calendar cards work as well. Students love seeing what is coming up and I love the visual of what my week looks like. From there I plan art activities, science experiments, videos/games for snack time, etc.
