Welcome to my teacher-life, & all things in my classroom cabinet

Bonjour! I am Nancy, an elementary French Immersion teacher that’s passionate about creating and sharing useable resources and ideas.

Amie qui Teach was born after countless hours every night searching for French Immersion resources. Finding very little that was useable without fully changing to match the French level of my Immersion students, I started to just make my own resources. It didn’t help either that year after year as I changed grades, I had to start again from scratch.

Now in my 6th year of teaching and having taught every grade K-7 French Immersion at least once, there is still a huge void in the French Immersion world of useable material for teachers – not to mention resources that also specifically that align with our BC curriculum!

My Goal: To share and continue to discover.

Why Teaching?

I loved school growing up.

I remember the fun things and projects we did…but is it bad to admit that I remember the boring ones more? In those moments I would brainstorm ways to make them more fun. Wanting to be a teacher…always a teacher??

My Education

Undergraduate Degree, major in French Literature, minor in History – with a concentration in Canadian History.

Bachelor of Education, major in French Immersion – with a concentration in Elementary Instruction.

Masters in Educational Leadership, with a focus on Communication-Focused Second Language Pedagogy: Techniques and Resources for French Immersion.

After School

Something creative – DIY, painting, reading (I’m really into Michael Connelly’s Crime novels atm – highly recommend!), paddle boarding, and catching up on my favorite shows…

Big Brother, Dream Home Makeover, Lupin…I read somewhere once that your choice in shows reflect an aspect of your life and personality – I’m not sure if that’s a good sign in my taste of shows or not!
